Sanada is known for his roles in Japanese films Ringu, Ninja in the Dragon’s Lair, i The Twilight Samuraias well as his recent roles in Hollywood films such as Avengers: EndgameArmy of the Dead, i mortal combat. His background and talent in martial arts has led the actor to be a consistently solid choice for major action film roles.
Based on the novel of the same name, bullet train follows Ladybug (Brad Pitt), an American assassin tasked with picking up a briefcase on the titular bullet train in Japan, dodging several other assassins along the way. These include Sanada’s The Elder, a role in which the actor will play his seasoned fighter type. The character of Sanada a John Wick: Chapter 4, despite this, is still somewhat shrouded in mystery, with few story details about the sequel film emerging so far. Now, the actor has dropped a hint about his character’s relationship with Reeves’ John Wick.
In an exclusive interview with Screen Rant, Sanada talks about his role in the upcoming John Wick 4, and how it will reunite him with Reeves. The actor notes that the film will be his second collaboration with Reeves after 2013 47 Ronin. Interestingly, Sanada points this out he will have one “similar” relationship with Reeves a John Wick 4 as did his characters 47 Ronin. Unsurprisingly, he also teases a fight scene in the film. “It was the second time I’d worked with Keanu since ’47 Ronin, so it was a great reunion. And a movie-like situation, so that’s the biggest clue. And of course I also had a fight scene. role for me.”
Considering Sanada and Reeves played allies 47 Roninit stands to reason from the actor’s comments that the two will be allies again John Wick 4. Sanada could perhaps play a friend of Wick’s who is willing to join his quest to dismantle the High Table. Sanada has previously hinted that her character in John Wick 4 it will be a friend who will be drawn to Wick’s struggle the way Halle Berry’s character was John Wick 3. However, due to the secretive nature of the production, these latest comments from Sanada are all the public have to go on for now.
The John Wick The films are the closest modern Hollywood cinema has come to the frantic, artistic style of the stunning Japanese-language action films on which Sanada built his career. If the producers of the franchise are able to continue the expressive choreography and concise editing of its three predecessors, John Wick: Chapter 4 should be able to keep the franchise momentum going. Casting an action veteran like Sanada will certainly go a long way in making it so, and the actor teaming up with Keanu Reeves as a potential ally is sure to make for a formidable fighting team.
