After 5 years and 91 chapters, the One-Punch Man Monster Association arc has finally reached its conclusion in the manga with a series of incredible chapters.

Spoilers for One-Punch Man chapter 166 (CAT)/168 (JPN) onwards.

With the release of One-Punch ManChapter 169 in Japanese, the long arc of the Monster Association has finally come to an end in the manga after five years.

The Monster Association arc started in chapter 78 of One-Punch Man, which debuted in July 2017, almost five years ago. It started with the group trying to recruit Speed-o’-Sound Sonic and Garou was first mentioned. The arc grew bigger and bigger as the Hero Association was invaded and had their boss’s son kidnapped, bringing almost all the S-class heroes and many lower-ranked heroes to lead to carry out a massive operation to rescue him. The arc deviated quite a bit from the series’ previous formula by closely following the hero hunter Garou, to the point where Garou got more “screen time” than Saitama at the end.

Now, the manga news account Manga Mogura has Tweeted this One-Punch Man’s the next chapter will officially conclude the seven-year arc. The end of the arc was clearly imminent from the previous chapters, as Garou and Saitama finally had their long-awaited battle, reaching truly absurd levels of power that led to the destruction of Jupiter and time-traveling punches . Many characters have had their chance to shine throughout the arc, from Garou to Bang and Fubuki, and even smaller characters like Blackluster and Zombieman. The arc also featured some incredible and truly brutal fights, such as those involving the face-melting, bone-breaking monster Führer Ugly, the world-shattering psychic battles of Tornado and Psykos, or Saitama’s legendary punch against Evil Ocean Water, a monster that took over the entire sea that surrounds the headquarters of the Monster Association. It also revealed a lot about the series’ overarching mythos arc, involving the evil god, main hero Blast, and eventually Garou and Saitama themselves.

How One-Punch Man is based on ONE’s original webcomic, many fans had certain moments they were hoping to see in manga artist Yusuke Murata’s highly detailed style, with Evil Ocean Water and Garou vs. Saitama often quoted. After a false ending in May, time was rewritten and a new ending was released for this Garou/Saitama chapter, leading to the epic interplanetary fight that exceeded even the wildest expectations. This was just one of several story deviations from the original webcomic, which initially caused some controversy. Despite these changes, the manga has ended in a very similar place to the webcomic, suggesting that it will continue to adapt the next arc, known as the “Psychic Sisters” arc. As the name suggests, this arc focuses on Fubuki and Tatsumaki, diving into their backstory, and is much shorter.

With the One-Punch Man The manga has finally finished adapting the Monsters Association arc, fans will no doubt start speculating about the anime’s return soon, as popular belief has it that the anime went on hiatus until that this story was completed. Although they have actually lasted years, the events of One-Punch Man’s The Monster Association arc takes place in just a few days, and the assault on the association’s headquarters only lasted one night. Regardless of whether it does, the manga definitely has some big changes since it won’t be able to focus as much on Garou. Fans needn’t worry, though, as there’s plenty more to come One-Punch Man to keep the manga going for years to come.
