WB has a 10-year plan for the future of DC film similar to Marvel’s
The head of Warner Bros. Discovery has confirmed that they are developing a 10-year plan for future DC films and that they are modeling it after the MCU.
It seems that Warner Bros. has a ten-year plan d.c movies, similar to what the MCU has at Disney. After the shocking news that Warner Bros. Discovery is discarding Batgirl completely even though the film was almost finished, the studio and the future of the DCEU brand has been at the center of numerous questions and headlines. BatgirlThe cancellation of ‘s was an unprecedented move and signaled a major shift in Warner Bros. strategy. Discovery. and its DC brand.
Rumors have begun to circulate than expected Supergirl film starring Sasha Calle from which he would leave the flash has been ruled out, and there is a possibility that the studio will also delay the release dates of major films like Shazam! fury of the gods i Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. Warner Bros. Discovery has tried to deflect the negative attention by announcing a release date Joker: Folie à Deux; in addition, Lady Gaga confirmed that she has joined as Harley Quinn. However, with BatgirlThe cancellation of looms large, seemingly every little DC project Zatanna a static shock it’s in danger of being abandoned if it doesn’t live up to the new regime’s vision of what DC movies should look like or feel like.
During the call for investors of Warner Bros. Discovery Quarterly 2 (via variety), CEO David Zaslav says DC is a priority for the studio and states his plan to team up with a “10-year plan focused on DC onlyThis is not unlike the approach Disney has taken with the MCU, which was created by Kevin Feige, Bob Iger and Alan Horn. Warner Bros. wants to focus on quality and won’t release DC movies before they’re ready. Despite saying they have a ten-year plan, however, Zaslav does not mention who would lead this team.
Warner Bros. Discovery has recruited Horn back to the company in a consulting position after he retires from Disney in 2021. Horn was previously COO of Warner Bros. from 1999 to 2011, and under his leadership, the studio had many successes, including the Harry Potter franchise and Christopher Nolan dark knight trilogy With Horn returning to Warner Bros., Zaslav is likely hoping that he can shape DC back into the blockbuster it was during the dark knight days while bringing everything he learned to Disney with the MCU. Horn could very well be a part of this mysterious DC team, although that is mere speculation at this point. At the very least, it’s safe to say that setting a proper roadmap for the future should be a positive change for DC.
Apart from the recently announced Joker: Folie à Deuxthere are only five other DC movies with set release dates: black adam, Shazam! fury of the gods, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, the flashi blue beetle. However, the cancellation of Batgirl it shows that no movie is really safe if the new studio doesn’t think it deserves a release or if it doesn’t fit within that 10-year plan. No DCEU movies are set for release after 2024. It was previously reported that d.c wanted his own Feige, so an announcement about a new form of leadership and what plan he’s moving forward with may be coming soon.
