Will Poulter addresses his future as Adam Warlock in the MCU after Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Director James Gunn will end his Marvel Studios sub-franchise with the third installment of the Guardians of the Galaxy movies next year. With the return of the main cast of the series led by Chris Pratt’s Star-Lord, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is expected to deal with the tragic origins of Rocket Raccoon, as well as the whereabouts of Gamora 2014 after the events of Avengers: Endgame.
Aside from featuring the main Guardians of the Galaxy, the trilogy will also debut some new characters to the MCU. This includes Chukwudi Iwuji as the narrative’s main villain, the High Evolutionary, and Poulter’s Adam Warlock. Unlike the former, however, Poulter’s arrival in the universe had long been rumored due to his involvement in the narrative of the Infinity Saga comics. Despite being installed in the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Post-credits scene Adam Warlock’s MCU introduction won’t be until Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 where he is expected to play an important role in the story.
In a new interview with The Dweeb MoviePoulter spoke candidly about Warlock’s future in the MCU after his Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 debut The actor says he has no idea what’s next for the character beyond his next film, which is part of Marvel Studios’ penchant for secrecy. However, the actor is eager to work with Gunn and the rest of the film’s cast again if Warlock returns. Read Poulter’s full quote below:
“I really hope so, man. I honestly don’t know what the plan is and I mean it’s hand to heart, you know the truth… Hand to heart I don’t know the plan… To all of us in the cast, the the first time we saw what premiered… the footage that premiered at Comic-Con, the first time we saw it was backstage about two minutes before he went on stage and that just exemplifies the level of secrecy around all things Marvel related. I didn’t see a script until a couple of weeks before I went on set long after I started the role or whatever. So really, the secrecy is something pretty big with everyone. Marvel stuff. I don’t know what the plan is, but I’m honored to play Adam Warlock again and I’m really looking forward to this opportunity. I’m desperate to work with James again. I’m desperate to work with everyone .of my cast mates. One of the nicest and most welcoming groups I’ve ever been with It was a pleasure to be in company, so I just crossed my fingers.”
As part of Marvel Studios’ San Diego Comic-Con 2022 panel, Gunn debuted official footage of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, giving the first look at the film. Backing up Poulter’s comments about Marvel’s secrecy, the footage wasn’t released publicly and was only briefly shown to his cast, but the clip’s description teases that the three-neck is emotional to close out the trilogy. While Poulter is eager to work with Gunn again, unless the filmmaker lands another deal with Marvel Studios, he may have to do so outside of the MCU after the guardians the saga comes to an end. Still, it’s clear that the actor’s MCU debut was extremely fun regardless GOTG 3 could lead to more Adam Warlock appearances.
Given the studio’s intense secrecy, it’s entirely possible that Poulter isn’t sure when and how Warlock will fit into Marvel’s plans for the Multiverse saga. However, he’s also likely well aware of how many projects he’s signed on to play the character, which gives him an idea of how big a role he’ll play in the franchise going forward. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. In any case, while the MCU’s continued exploration of his cosmic side would make it pretty easy to find new ways to use the character moving forward, updates on Adam Warlock’s future will likely remain under wraps for some time.
