The great American Williams “evolving away” from tennis

Serena Williams, the 23-time Grand Slam singles champion and one of tennis’ greatest players, says she is “evolving away” from the sport after the US Open.
Writing for Vogue, the American said she is moving on to “other things that are important to me”, adding that she does not like the word “retirement”.
In an accompanying Instagram post, the 40-year-old wrote that “the countdown has begun.”
“I enjoyed these next few weeks,” he wrote.
Williams made her singles return at Wimbledon in June after a long injury layoff that had led to speculation of her retirement.
He says he will play at the US Open, where he has won six of his major singles titles, later in August.
