Before he retired, Vince McMahon had a lot of rules for WWE wrestlers. The new regime led by Triple H seems to be cracking fools.

wwe it’s always been the Land of the Giants, but in recent years, the company might as well have been known as World Of Vince McMahon’s Goofy Rules. Fans who have spent some time online probably know of some more ridiculous ones. Still, under Triple H’s watch, wrestlers on the move Monday Night Raw i Friday Night SmackDown they have been able to reduce some of the idiosyncrasies of their former bosses.

For example, Twitter caught fire when, a few weeks ago, Drew McIntyre was allowed to say the word “wrestler” and “wrestle” on TV multiple times during an (awesome) segment with Kevin Owens. McMahon had banned these terms long ago, forcing everyone to refer to themselves and others as “sports entertainers” and “superstars.” This is such a well-known schtick that one of AEW’s main feuds right now (Chris Jericho vs. Bryan Danielson) is a question of whether or not Daniel Garcia is a wrestler or a sports entertainer. However, some of the rules of McMahon are fading fast and a recent report indicates that another has recently bitten the dust.

In a new update, PWInsider.com’s Mike Johnson reported the following: “Theory is no longer theory. He will officially go back to his full name of Austin Theory from now on… Matt Riddle will in fact 100% go by his full name from now on as seen in the edition of last night on Raw.“Johnson also noted that the shorter names had been a”edict under Vince McMahon’s regime,“, but this is no longer the case.

WWE rule changes benefit wrestlers

As Johnson said, during a segment on the August 29 episode of Raw, Seth Rollins called Riddle by his first name, Matt, and one graphic also referred to him by his first name. Rollins still mostly called Riddle by his last name, but it was clear that there was no mandate against first names anymore. Johnny Gargano was also allowed to debut under his full real name, which went against another long-standing Vince McMahon rule.

It’s another step toward making WWE television feel less robotic and scripted. Nobody talks about how McMahon and his writing team asked the performers to speak, and it almost always brought an air of believability to the promos. When Ciampa started calling The Miz by his real name, Mike, during a match where he seemed shocked by a sighting of Dexter Lumis, it made more sense. Remember the impact of CM Punk’s line of “this is Phil Brooks talking to Paul Levesque“was it during his feud with Triple H in 2011? Injecting a little more legitimacy into the language has taken wwe a long way in just over a month, and it’s been a shot in the arm for both of us raw i Slap.
