With the upcoming release of Splatoon 3 on September 9, the franchise will introduce tons of new content, including Tableturf Battles. The Splatoon franchise is a unique third-person shooter game developed and published by Nintendo, in which players compete to cover the map with as much ink from their team as possible. In the game, players can take on the role of Inklings or Octolings, which possess a humanoid form that can use weapons and a cephalopod form that they can use to swim up and down their colorful surfaces to replenish ammo or even perform a new movement Splatoon 3 called Squid Surge. Splatoon has won critical acclaim since its release in 2015 and has sold more than 18 million copies across the series.
The main game mode of Splatoon, Turf War, consists of a team vs. team match where players must cover as much of the map with their team’s ink as possible. Players can use surfaces that have their ink on them to transform into a “swimming” form, allowing them to scale surfaces, move faster, and refill their ink reserves. Meanwhile, moving across enemy inked surfaces will slow players down, deal gradual damage, and prevent them from switching to ‘swim’ form. Turf wars a Splatoon it will last about three minutes, at the end of which the team with the most percentage of the map covered with their ink will be declared the winner.
Players have access to multiple weapons that will offer different advantages and disadvantages. Chargers, for example, are very good at attacking enemies from a distance, but terrible at painting surfaces. Meanwhile, rollers are great for painting large areas, but are limited to close range combat. To succeed in the game, players will have to coordinate with their team to paint the map as much as they can while preventing their enemy from Splatoon 3 to do the same.

Tableturf Battles is a new game mode that will be introduced with Splatoon 3 at its launch on September 9. This mode is a card mini-game where players will have to use multiple cards to cover as much of the board with their ink as possible. A game will have 12 turns in which both players will play their cards simultaneously. Participants will start on opposite sides of the board as they must place their cards next to the existing ink, but eventually face off to try and paint over each other’s board to cover the maximum possible area to try to win the game.
To play this digital card game Splatoon 3, players will need a deck consisting of 15 cards. A card will have an ink pattern associated with it, but may also have a unique orange square that will help them trigger special attacks. When these special squares are surrounded on all sides by ink, either their own or opponents’, players will gain a special attack point. At the bottom left of a card, next to the blue number that indicates how many squares the card paints, you’ll see one or more orange squares that represent how many special points are needed to use your special move. Using a card like this allows players to paint on top of enemy ink Splatoon 3 and will be the key to success during the latter stages of a match.
