NVIDIA’s upcoming RTX 4060 could be as powerful as the RTX 3070

According to an insider, NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 4060 graphics card could launch next summer with the same level of performance as the RTX 3070.

The report comes almost two months after NVIDIA announced its RTX 4000 series GPUs as an upgrade to the RTX 3000 series. Alongside the RTX 4060, NVIDIA is also said to be working on the RTX 4070 Ti which is rumored to launch on January 5th. According to media speculation, the 4070 Ti could just be a re-flagship RTX 4080 12GB, meaning they could have exactly the same specs. If the speculations turn out to be accurate, NVIDIA’s RTX 4070 Ti could be based on the AD104 GPU with 7,680 CUDA cores and have a base clock of 2.3GHz with a boost clock of 2.6GHz. In addition, it could have 12 GB of GDDR6X memory at 21 Gbps and a power of 285 W.

Tipster Wolstame on the Chinese microblogging platform Weibo has revealed some insights about NVIDIA’s RTX 4060 graphics card. According to their publication, the RTX 4060 will be 20% faster than the RTX 3060 and perform at the same level as the RTX 3070. They also say that the card could be priced 10% higher than the RTX 3060 Ti, which has a price of $399. US MSRP If Wolstame’s claim is correct, the new card could be priced at $439-449, which isn’t exactly cheap.

Another notable aspect of the RTX 4060 will be its reduced power consumption. According to the tipper, it could consume less power than the RTX 3060, which has a power of 170 W. The 4060 could also include DLSS3 support and updated NVENC (NVIDIA Encoder) for better video encoding. As for the release date, Wolstame says the card could launch sooner “618”, or June 18, 2023.

While the aforementioned information doesn’t reveal much about the RTX 4060, it’s worth paying attention to what little it does offer. This is because according to reports @harukaze5719 on Twitter, Wolstame is the product planning manager for Lenovo China’s gaming desktop division, meaning his insight could be relatively accurate. That said, Wolstame clearly stated that his post is not based on any inside information about RTX 4060but it’s an educated guess, meaning it should be taken with a grain of salt for the most part.
