The third and final trailer for Avatar: The Way of Water has arrived, revealing one last full look at the sequel before it hits theaters next month.

A sequel to the highest grossing film of all time, The Water Path is once again written and directed by James Cameron, set more than a decade after the original Avatar, and follows the Na’vi family of Jake and Neytiri as they protect themselves from the various dangers of Pandora. Avatar: The Way of Water It’s already received two trailers that showcase the sequel’s impressive underwater action. Now, the third and final regular trailer has arrived.

The trailer offers one last full look at the highly anticipated sequel before it hits theaters next month on December 16th. Watch the trailer below:
Why Jake and his family head to the water tribe in Avatar 2
While the original Avatar following Jake’s introduction to the forest-dwelling Omaticaya clan, the sequel is shifting its focus to the water-dwelling people of Pandora. At the beginning of the final trailer, Jake heads to the water tribe, the Metkayina clan, to try and keep his family safe. Based on the trailer, it looks like the Sully family is seeking refuge away from the Resource Development Administration. Mining was introduced in the first Avatar and returns again in the sequel with his security force led once again by Colonel Miles Quaritch (Stephen Lang).
Despite being killed by Neytiri in the first Avatar, Quaritch was brought back to life by the RDA by becoming a Recombinant, an avatar embedded with the memories of a human soldier. So Quaritch remembers that Jake sided with the Na’vi in the first film and will seek revenge against him and his family in the sequel. The end Avatar: The Way of Water The trailer reveals just a small taste of the GDR’s all-out assault on the Metkayina clan.
