MCU: The 10 Best Steve and Bucky Relationship Tweets
Ever since Steve Rogers retired as Captain America, his best friend Bucky Barnes has been pretty lonely. The fans felt it The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and I might feel it further in the next MCU movie thrones
After all, the two had been friends since the 1940s and had been through a lot of pain that tested their bond. Rogers may have ended his tenure as Captain America Avengers: Endgamebut the relationship between the two characters remains as strong as ever, evident by the reactions on Twitter.
A ship name
With a franchise as vast as the MCU, it’s pretty common for all the other characters to ship with each other, and the general majority of fans collectively refer to them as “Stucky”. This tweet is important to all those who just are. enter the shipping fandom between the two.
While this Twitter user is disappointed that the ship’s name isn’t Cucky, another suggested an even better name: Buck Rogers!
Steve’s real family
At least in the movies, not much context is given behind Steve Rogers’ family roots. Since he was frozen for most of the 20th century, it’s highly plausible that he survived his WWII family and friends (except for his loyal sidekick Bucky, of course).
Ever since he was “thawed”, Steve has welcomed his fellow Avengers not only to save the world, but even for times when he needs a friend. Like the following events The Winter Soldier have shown the public, Natasha Romanoff, Bucky, Sam Wilson and even Nick Fury are Steve’s closest friends in the MCU. So it only makes sense that fans equate these characters as their “real family.”
end of line
“I’m with you to the end of the line, buddy” are the words Bucky utters when Steve is grieving his mother’s death. Years later, they cross paths again as enemies, only for Steve to remind Bucky of those poignant words, reiterating the same dialogue again. Bucky naturally comes to his senses and spares his life.
Since then, the line has gained a cult following as one of the MCU’s best quotes, and it continues to bring Bucky and Steve fans to tears. It represents how powerful their friendship has been throughout the MCU despite all the obstacles that have come their way. Regardless of the hardships, they have always supported each other and never let anything try to tarnish their bond.
Steve and Bucky X Taylor Swift
Taylor Swift’s latest album midnight is filled with several emotional musical numbers, “You’re On Your Own Kid” being one of them. As this Twitter user points out, the song’s lyrics seem clearly written in memory of someone the songwriter misses dearly.
Even though Steve promised Bucky that he would stick with him to the end of the line, he still left for a different life, leaving Bucky alone with his inner demons. So it’s pretty obvious that Bucky would have his fair share of emotional moments, going through the best moments of his friendship with Steve.
The Sad Hugs
Steve and Bucky hugging has been a recurring motif in the MCU, which goes well with their friendship motto of sticking with each other until the end of the line. However, this Twitter user rightly noted that the duo engaged in a total of three hugs with Bucky’s face hidden in the first two instances.
In the final embrace that viewers witness before Steve’s conclusion end game, the camera finally pans to Bucky’s face, with Sebastian Stan conjuring the best of his emotional expressions, knowing full well what Steve is about to do. After that moment, Bucky will have to fight the good fight alone without the help of his best friend. This is easily one of Bucky’s best moments in the MCU as he humanizes the killer as an emotional hero.
Turning his back on the civil war
Tony Stark takes a big beating at the end Captain America: Civil War by Steve and Bucky’s hand. Of course, the latter two wouldn’t harm another superhero under normal circumstances, but then again, Civil war tested the mental and physical limits of the three characters involved.
With Steve clearly in solidarity with Bucky, he was ready to go against anyone who would hurt him even if it was a good friend like Iron Man himself. This is even more evident in the final fight where Steve and Bucky protect each other and even team up to use Cap’s vibranium shield to immobilize Tony to the max.
An awkwardly adorable moment
The first time Steve and Bucky witnessed battle action was, of course, in the midst of World War II, when they were both stationed overseas. Even minuscule minutes of their shared screen time is enough for dedicated “shippers” to overanalyze their relationship.
For example, the scene in this tweet shows the captain saving his trusted comrade from incoming Nazi gunfire. Bucky clings to Steve as Steve rescues him, making for a moment that can best be described as wholesome. After all, despite his exceptional combat skills, Bucky is still a human compared to his “super soldier” of a friend. At times when Bucky needs some rescuing, Steve’s efficiency just shows his back to Bucky as always.
protective bucky
The Battle of Wakanda was a pretty majestic sequence infinite war, only for Thanos to wreak havoc in the final parts. Although Steve manages to use his hybrid shield against most of his minions, the Titan eventually gains the upper hand and manages to land a punch.
Although this doesn’t happen in the movie, one Twitter post believes that Bucky would react aggressively to this to show how protective he is of Steve. Whether fighting Nazis or alien villains, both heroes have proven to be effective at rescuing each other. Steve facing damage at the hands of Thanos is bound to anger Bucky, even if his attacks would hardly hurt Thanos. And as viewers have seen several times in the previous films, Steve is also always ready to protect Bucky with a similar level of dedication.
A comparison of comics and movies
It can be argued that Bucky’s arc began to gain depth from the events of The Winter Soldier. The third act that finds the brainwashed soldier subconsciously remembering his past and saving Steve from drowning only proves this more.
The original Winter Soldier arc in the comics, on the other hand, found a relatively unscathed Steve snapping Bucky out of his bad state by using the Cosmic Cube’s powers against him. With a more raw and personal ending, the film would definitely win the hand for many when it comes to emotional merits. Unlike in the comic, Steve doesn’t even wear his Captain America costume in the adaptation. Instead, he is only shown as a wounded and heartbroken man, reminding Bucky of a past when they were both far from the world of costumed superheroes.
A comparison with RRR!
One of the most unexpected global hits this year was the Indian action film RRR which dealt with two freedom fighters Ram and Bheem going against their British colonizers. While they fight side by side, they also seem to share a close bond that some fans found reminiscent of Steve and Bucky’s friendship.
The most obvious similarity is that Bheem and Ram are close friends, just to be on different factions of their cause. This is very similar to Bucky and Steve’s complicated arc The Winter Soldier, where their opposition puts them at odds with each other. But comparing the duo to Steve and Bucky just shows how the two Avengers have set a benchmark for healthy friendships in pop culture.
