Biden’s Secret Service rental vehicles burst into flames after he left Nantucket on vacation
President Biden’s Secret Service rental vehicles exploded in a parking lot Monday, just a day after he left for vacation in Nantucket.
Biden spent Thanksgiving on the luxurious Massachusetts island with his family last week. The Secret Service rented five vehicles from Hertz to transport the president and his family, and all five caught fire in the parking lot, according to footage first obtained by the Nantucket Current.
Footage shows firefighters spraying the smoldering remains of a vehicle’s engine block. The five vehicles included a Chevy Suburban, Ford Explorer, Infiniti QX80, Ford Expedition and a Jeep Gladiator.
The vehicles were parked at the Nantucket airport and the fire spread to within just 40 feet of the facility’s fuel tanks. It is currently unknown what caused the fire. Fox News reached out to the White House for information, but they did not immediately respond.

“Combined fire crews responded and contained the fire. Several vehicles were damaged. The airport is currently coordinating with rental car agencies and partner agencies to ensure the safety of the scene . There is no longer any active fire at this time: the airport is open and aviation operations are not affected,” the statement continued.
Biden spent the Nantucket weekend celebrating the holiday with his family, telling reporters they were not having any discussions about a possible 2024 presidential run.
The Bidens stayed at a waterfront resort along Nantucket Harbor. Family members on the trip included Ashley and Hunter Biden. The family has a 40+ year tradition of spending Thanksgiving on the island.
The escape was the first holiday for the Biden family since they went to another secluded East Coast island in August, when the president, first lady and Hunter Biden flew on Air Force One to Kiawah Island in South Carolina.

Outings around major holidays and at the end of summer are not uncommon for US presidents. Presidents George W. Bush, barack obama, and Donald Trump took similar vacations throughout their time in office. Bush often spent time at his Texas ranch, while Obama and Trump preferred golf courses in New England.
