Elon Musk has reclaimed the title of the world’s richest person, according to Bloomberg’s story.
The Tesla CEO was ousted from the top spot by Bernard Arnault, chief executive of French luxury brand LVMH (LVMHF), in December last year, making Musk No. 2 on the list for more than two months. As of Monday, however, Bloomberg reports that a rally in Tesla stock has pushed Musk back to the top of its real-time billionaires index.
Musk’s net worth was about $187.1 billion after markets closed on Monday, according to Bloomberg, surpassing Arnault’s $185.3 billion fortune.
While shares of Tesla ( TSLA ) fell sharply last year amid Musk’s acquisition of Twitter and a broader decline in the tech market, shares of the electric vehicle maker have since rallied 2023.
Musk might hold the current title of the richest person in the world, but he also holds the record for the largest fortune ever lost by anyone in history. Late last year, Musk became the first person ever to lose $200 billion in wealth, after his net worth fell from about $340 billion in November 2021 to $137 billion in December 2022.
